Our account application must be completed and submitted for approval by Caperton Furnitureworks before we open a commercial account or accept an order.
Orders
Orders are subject to acceptance by Caperton Furnitureworks. Possession of our catalog, price list or website login credentials does not necessarily constitute authority to purchase any of our products. Purchases are to be paid by credit card or check before the order is placed and put into production. If payment is made by check, we will place the order into production once payment is received at our offices.
Order Cancellations & Changes
Our furniture is made specifically for your order and is considered sold when production is scheduled. Production begins within one or two business days upon acknowledgement of your order. Production Lead Time
Gat Creek furniture is made-to-order in 28 to 35 days from the time the order is placed into production until it is ready for shipment.
Measurements
Solid wood furniture expands and contracts with changes in temperature and humidity. Please note that all Gat Creek furniture measurements are rounded up to the nearest ½ of an inch and can vary as much as 3/8 of an inch depending on the relevant ambient conditions.
Pricing
All prices on the Gat Creek website are in US dollars. Availability, prices and shipping rates are subject to change.
Shipping Rates
Transit times vary from one to four weeks depending on specialized furniture carrier service to your market and distance from the factory. Gat Creek offers fixed rate shipping (as a percentage of the total order value) to most commercial locations with a truck height dock accessible by a 43’ trailer. Shipping and delivery rates to other commercial addressees, residential addresses, and unique delivery circumstances require a customized delivery quote. Alaska, Hawaii, and certain locations within the continental US requiring complex delivery arrangements (Martha’s Vineyard or other hard-to-reach home locations, for example) can incur additional shipping charges. Our Customer Service department will supply you with a customized freight quote in any of these circumstances.
Planning for Delivery
A thorough assessment of the path from the street to the destination of the furniture is recommended before placing a Gat Creek order. Please take into consideration doorways, stairways, tight corners, and lighting fixtures that may get between the delivery truck and the destination of the furniture delivery. Beds are shipped disassembled. Some dining tables are shipped assembled. (See dining table product pages for more information about product dimensions and whether the table is shipped fully assembled or partially disassembled.)
Repair and Return Policy
Caperton Furnitureworks’ responsibility for loss or damage ceases upon delivery of furniture to the freight carrier (FOB Berkeley Springs, WV.) In all cases, please inspect your furniture carefully before releasing the driver and signing the bill of lading stating your order arrived in good condition. The following freight damage processing instructions apply to orders placed through our website using our guaranteed freight program.
- Major freight damage noticed at time of delivery: If furniture is damaged beyond the level of repair work typically completed locally, the damaged item should be refused and returned to the delivery truck for shipment back to the Gat Creek factory. Any furniture items not damaged should be accepted. Please make a note on the bill of lading identifying the item(s) being refused and the nature of the freight damage before signing the document. Please send a scan, fax or copy of the bill of lading and photographs of the damage for our records. You WILL NOT be held responsible for any part of the cost of replacement of the damaged piece.
- Minor freight damage noticed at the time of delivery: If furniture or packaging damage is discovered but assessed to be a likely candidate for local repair or parts replacement, a note should be made on the bill of lading detailing the damage and the intent to repair in place. Please send a scan, fax or copy of the bill of lading and photographs of the damage for our records. You WILL NOT not be held responsible for any part of the cost of the repair of the damaged piece. *See note below.
- Concealed freight damage: If freight damage is found after the driver has left, please contact us immediately to report the damage. Please send a scan, fax or copy of the bill of lading and photographs of the damage for our records. We will work with you to develop a plan for repairing or replacing the damaged item(s). The freight company responsibility for damage not identified at the point of delivery (as noted on the bill of lading) is generally no more than supplying freight service to facilitate a repair or return. You WILL be held responsible for some or all of the cost of repair or replacement of the freight damaged piece. *See note below.
Note: A repair cost estimate must be obtained and approved by Gat Creek prior to repairs being completed in the field. Failure to provide an estimate in advance may result in no compensation from Gat Creek.
